Since its arrival, the Emerald Ash Borer has killed tens of millions of ash trees in Michigan alone, and spread to 12 states and 2 Canadian provinces. It is present at the western edge of Pennsylvania. During a trip through Ohio along I-80, Arborist Jonathan Schach witnessed the enormity of the damage.
Tree guys are not all the same. In the state of Pennsylvania you need a license to cut hair professionally, but you don’t need a license for cutting trees in the same capacity. Anyone with a saw and a pickup truck can respond to your call for tree work, and say, “I am the man for the job.” It is up to you to decide if that is indeed the case.

Initially, in many cases all that can be done is prune the broken branches out, always cutting back to a lateral branch or growing point. This, with proper mulching and fertilization will allow the plant the best opportunity to respond with new growth.
