Bulbs are little treasures to be buried, while sugar plum wishes dance in our heads. Garden fantasies about the “hello spring!” display are one of the dreams that pull us through winter.

What's Up With My Hydrangea?
Most hydrangeas flower on the wood they made last year. Which means right after it finished flowering last year, it began making flower buds, which would become this year’s flowers.

I Adopted a Butterfly

A customer of Erica’s found a butterfly had hatched in her Christmas tree. What to do? But of course, Erica took the sweet swallowtail home with her. What a totally magnificent thing, a butterfly. We watch them flutter by in our summer gardens, but what a treat to have the opportunity to see her up close, really observe.
