PRG readers have long known that I am a garden guru. Of course, right? But as an early Christmas gift, I have officially been dubbed a Garden Guru. Starting today, I will be one of several Garden Gurus working with Proven Winners. I am honored to be part of Proven Winners family and lucky to be part of an amazing group of 8 garden writers.
And this early gift has really helped me get into the holiday spirit. So, I’ll share a couple of plants from my personal Christmas wish list.
Topping my list would be the spunky and entertaining little shrub -Spirea. I prefer plants that rock out a long show. And Spirea performs with great foliage color and bloom spring through fall. I’m looking forward to growing Proven Winners new introduction Double Play™ ‘Big Bang’ Spirea next year.
Last spring, I began a love affair with Veronica. I love the vertical spikes that rise up just as some of my spring flowering perennials begin to fade. I’ll plant ‘Hocus Pocus’ Veronica for it’s extending bloom time and compact. Veronica pairs nicely with my favorite annual, Angelonia. I’ll use the Angelface© series in white.
Please indulge a bit more holiday giddiness for a moment. Jingle bells is running through my head…
Oh, Superbells©, Superbells©
Blooming all the way…
Ok… So yes, I am such a garden geek that I turn holiday songs into gardening songs. But in seriousness, if you are shopping for a gardener for the holidays, consider a gift certificate from a garden center so your garden pal can pick up favorite plants in the spring. To find a retailer who carries Proven Winner plants, like Superbells©, visit the Proven Winners site. You’ll find me on their site as well.
Writing about these plants has shifted my dreaming from holiday to spring dreams. It will be a March before I can add new plants to my gardens but in the meantime, thanks, Proven Winners, for visions of spring and including me as part of your Garden Guru crew.
