Falling for Fowls

bite-of-bread

“All this for an egg?” Grumped my husband.

I was in the middle of building an addition to the chicken coop.  Once the chickens were full grown, I felt they needed more space.  My husband wasn’t feeling it.

But, in truth, for all of us, with the possible exception of my teenager, raising our chickens hasn’t been about the eggs.  It’s been about having chickens as pets.  They’re funny.  One friend describes them as feathered dinosaurs. They walk like an Egyptian while shaking their tail feathers.  They’re social.  They’ve taken to peeking at my doors if I’ve been inside for a while.  You can meet them.  I made a video.

  2. That is a GREAT video! I’ve wanted a few chickens in my backyard forever but I’m going to have to move to make that happen. I did not know they were so social.
