Asiatica Open House

Next summer,  I will know to leave many of my weekend’s open because it seems there is always some great plant event happening that I have to miss.

This Friday, July 17th, there is the first of several open houses at Asiatica.  I wanted to let you know even though I can’t go.  I’ll make it for another one.  They will be open to the public July 24,25, 31, and August 1rst.  The open houses will run from 9am to 2pm.  They are located near York Haven in Northern York County.

Asiatica is a mail order nursery which grows specialty plants, primarily Asian.  I’ve not been there but I’ve heard raves from plant loving friends who dug Asiatica’s vast stock of rare plants.  They have a wide variety of wild gingers, jack in the pulpits and ferns.  Much more.

You can get emailed notices of future open houses by signing up on their website.  Here are directions from one of those notices.:

Get off Interstate 83 at exit 32, Newberrytown (about midway between York, PA & Route 30 and Harrisburg, PA & the PA Turnpike).
Go north on PA Rt. 382. If coming from the north (Harrisburg) turn RIGHT off the ramp. If coming from the south (York) turn LEFT off the ramp.
Go 1 3/10 miles and turn LEFT on York Road (just past Lewisberry Storage).
Go 1 1/10 miles to the green mailbox #600 just before the Susquehanna Speedway. The mailbox is on the right side. Turn LEFT into the unpaved driveway directly across from=2 0the mailbox. Go down the driveway 2/10 mile to the white house, continue down the hill to the red building.
